Hartnett, professor of communication and director of the CU Denver College-in-Prison Program, delivered a 90-minute presentation on "The Prison-Industrial Complex as a Driver of Public Health" before the Touro University of Public Health.

Hartnett was joined by community partners Carol Peeples, the Director of Remerg, and Michael Clifton, a Project Manager at Remerg.

The presentation combined research Hartnett conducted in collaboration with Klein Buendel, a Colorado-based public health think-tank, about health care for elderly incarcerated patients, and the extensive interviews Peeples and Clifton conducted in Colorado prisons during and after the COVID pandemic.
