Pre-Health Alumni Career Talk: Real Stories, Real Impact for CU Denver Students

On November 20, 2025, the University of Colorado Denver Chemistry Club hosted a Pre-Health Alumni Career Talk—Panelists from the Alumni Health Career Talkan event designed to connect current students with alumni who are making a difference in the health sciences.

The hour-long session brought together students, faculty, and alumni for an open, honest conversation about the realities of pursuing a career in medicine.

Our panelists, Breanna Ahrens (BS Chemistry and BS Biochemistry '23) and Yonatan Kramer (BS Biology '20), returned to share their journeys from CU Denver classrooms to medical school. Breanna, now a first-year student at Western University of Health Sciences, and Yonatan, a second-year medical student at Rocky Vista University, offered practical advice and candid reflections on navigating coursework, managing burnout, and finding balance in demanding programs.

Students engaged in lively breakout discussions, asked questions, and heard firsthand how CU Denver's flexible, inclusive approach prepared these alumni for the next step.

"The atmosphere was relaxed and supportive," said Dr. Kyoung Nan Kim, Assistant Teaching Professor and Chemistry Club advisor. "Students told me they found the session both motivating and informative."

This event exemplifies CU Denver's commitment to education that works for all-connecting real people with real opportunities. By fostering a supportive, inclusive community, we empower students to dream big and take actionable steps toward their goals.

Thank you to our alumni and students for making this event a meaningful, inspiring experience.
