Dr. Emilie Guidez, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, received the 2025 Love of Learning Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective academic honor society spanning all disciplines.
Since joining CU Denver in 2017, Dr. Guidez has built a vibrant and productive research program at the frontier of computational chemistry, earning support from the National Science Foundation, the American Chemical Society, and industry partners. Her work combines cutting-edge scientific inquiry with a strong commitment to student mentorship and innovative teaching.
In the classroom, Dr. Guidez has embraced team-based learning and flipped-classroom strategies to create a more engaging, collaborative experience for students. She mentors both undergraduate and master's researchers, fostering the next generation of scientists through hands-on, discovery-based learning.
"The award letter cites Emilie's superior academic record and life and career ambitions, which we are very proud of," said Dr. Hai Lin, Professor and Chair of the Chemistry Department. "She is inspired to be both an outstanding researcher and an excellent teacher."
The Love of Learning Award will support Dr. Guidez's ongoing professional development, enabling her to continue advancing her research and teaching at CU Denver.
