“Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) isn’t about separating people—it’s about creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard. People don’t disengage because of DEI— they disengage when they feel invisible, unsafe, or unwelcome. DEI is how you build a team where everyone actually wants to be there.” ~ Christina Dawkins, human rights activist and educator

Are you feeling anxious about how to move forward with our commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion in the context of the federal transition? Do you want to develop practical tools to combat misinformation and create real change?

The CLAS Council on Access and Community Engagement (ACE) is partnering with Christina Dawkins, founder of A4Abolitionist and A4Academy, on a three-part programming opportunity for faculty and staff interested in supporting our core values in concrete ways. This work is more important than ever in our current moment.

  • April 10, 2025, 3-4:30pm: Christina Dawkins will be on campus to lead a hybrid workshop, “Meeting the Moment with a Social Justice Mindset”
  • April – September 2025: Faculty and staff will undertake self-paced learning through Christina’s online program, “The Storied JEDI”. The program emphasizes the importance of storytelling in JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion) work and consists of 14 on-demand videos that involve just 20 minutes per session. A certificate is available upon completion.
  • October 2025: Christina Dawkins will lead a hybrid debrief workshop

We would love for you to engage with all the events. The April workshop will set the stage for the online course and help create a community around the Storied JEDI project. However, we understand some of you will only be able to participate in one or another. Please use the form below to sign up!

Those who participate in either the April workshop or the online program will be invited to the debrief workshop in the Fall.
