Political Science Department hiring a New Directions Work Study Student Assistant for Summer and Fall 2025
The Graduate Student Assistant will help with the operational needs of the Political Science Department's Center for New Directions in Politics & Policy. This position will primarily assist the Program Director with creating and distributing marketing materials, such as flyer design, website updates and content for social media. The assistant may also perform light research in support of New Directions courses, help execute special projects or events, and assist with outreach and community partnerships. Other general administrative support duties as assigned. Positions are open for both Summer 2025 and Fall 2025, with a preference for a student able to work for both terms. Pay is $19-20 an hour depending on experience.
This position is responsible for a variety of operational tasks including use of Microsoft Outlook, data entry, communications, website maintenance/development, social media branding/posting, alumni relations, event planning/support, photography, general office tasks, research, and other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be work study eligible.
- Must be a current student enrolled at CU Denver at least half time in the term you are employed (to be eligible for work study).
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, flexible, organized, open minded, and professional.
- Must have strong written and solid oral communication skills.
- Must have the ability to collaborate in a team and to execute tasks independently inbetween supervisions.
- Must have experience with creating visually appealling graphics and materials through a platform such as Canva or other, website experience preferred.
- Experience with local policy, politics or organizing a plus.
Other Information: The Graduate Student Assistant will be eager to help support the New Directions Program within the Department of Political Science and all its faculty, staff and students. Our ideal candidate is a graduate student in New Directions or Political Science with design and communications skills, or a student in Communications or Marketing or a related major who is passionate about local public, non-profit, community or labor leadership. Candidates should be willing to work 5-15 hours per week and eager to learn, adapt and grow in this position. This position will likely be hybrid with some hours performed independently and others collaboratively in a Student Commons building office.
