A small number of teaching assistantships are available for graduate students. In order to be considered, the applicant must:
- be a current graduate student in the MA program in Spanish at CU Denver
- have a minimum GPA of 3.5
- have completed MLNG 5690, Methods of Teaching Modern Languages; enroll in the course during the fall semester in which s/he begins teaching; or demonstrate previous teaching excellence in college-level Spanish courses
Tuition Remission:
Our department hires interested students as TAs. TAs earn Lecturer pay and tuition remission of 3 credit hours of in-state tuition per semester that a grad student is a TA with us, for up to 4 semesters. Tuition remission is only applicable for those students teaching their own class.
Teaching Assistant For Core Classes
The Teaching Assistant (TA) will provide instructional and faculty support for designated courses, including assisting with grading assignments and papers, preparing course materials, and other tasks as needed by the instructor. The position requires up to 6 hours per week and the pay rate is up to $2,788 for the fall 2026 semester.
Qualifications: Previous successful completion of the course(s) for which the student is serving as a TA is frequently required. Specific course experience will vary depending on the courses assigned. Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail are expected.
