To be considered for admission to the Master's of Integrated Science program, students must be able to submit the following materials and meet the necessary requirements:
Application form
- Graduate Application for Admission
- Under the “Academic Interest” section, select Master of Integrated Science (MIS) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. If this designation is not accurately included, materials will not be received by the Admissions Committee.
Application Fee
- $50 Application Fee / $75 for International Students (though most international applicants are not charged the application fee due to the External Credential Evaluation Requirements)
Conferred bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- With 40 semester hours of undergraduate courses in biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental sciences, geology, mathematics, and/or physics.
GPA
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; however, applicants with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0 may be considered if they have taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the scores are forwarded to the program office.
College and University Transcripts
- Applicants must list and provide unofficial transcript(s) for every post-secondary institution where they were enrolled—or are currently enrolled—in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Even if a degree was not earned from that institution, a transcript is still required.
A Statement of Purpose
- The statement of purpose will include educational background, why students are interested in applying for the MIS program, and the disciplines of interest.
Letters of Recommendation (three)
- Recommenders should be individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic qualifications, of which at least two (2) should be from academic sources.
- Possessing the minimum requirements and meeting the priority deadline will guarantee that the application is considered. It does not, however, guarantee admission. The admissions committee will select students competitively to create a high-quality and balanced cohort of participants entering the program each year.
Transfer Policy
We accept up to 12 hours of graduate transfer credits (dependent on a B grade or better) with program director approval. However, these credits must fit the student’s program goal in order to apply to the MIS degree. Further, no coursework may be applied that will be older than seven years on the day of graduation. For more information please contact the program director.
