Laptop Checkout

Need a laptop for your coursework?

CLAS students can borrow a high-performance laptop for coursework at no cost. Laptops are available for checkout for up to one semester and can be used with the software you need for your classes. Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be returned by the last day of classes each semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Any student enrolled in a CLAS course during the current semester may borrow a laptop for use with their coursework.
  • Faculty and staff may not borrow a laptop for work-related purposes.
  • Students who are also university employees may borrow a laptop as long as its primary use is for their own coursework. Incidental work-related use, such as by a graduate teaching assistant, is permitted.

CLAS currently offers Dell Pro Max 16 with the following specifications:

  • Currently, CLAS has 50 laptops available on a first-come first-served basis.
  • If all laptops are checked out when you submit your request, we'll let you know and add you to the waitlist. We'll contact you when a laptop becomes available.

You may keep the laptop through the last day of classes for the current semester.

Contact clasit@ucdenver.edu before your due date to request an extension. Extensions are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by CLAS IT.

  • A laptop is considered late one business day after its due date. If it has not been returned within seven business days of the due date, it will be considered lost, and you may be responsible for the full-market-value replacement cost.
  • If you need additional time, contact CLAS IT before your due date. If an extension is approved, we'll update your return deadline accordingly.

  • Yes. You may travel with your CLAS laptop, but you are still responsible for returning it by the assigned due date.
  • If your travel plans will prevent you from returning the laptop on time, contact clasit@ucdenver.edu before your due date to request an extension. Extensions must be approved by CLAS IT.
