Bio

Gabriel Nelson received his Ph.D. in Sociology from UCLA (2014), his Master’s in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from New York University (2006) and his B.A. from Cu- Boulder (2002). His research interests include political sociology, economic inequality, historical sociology, and Latin America. Gabriel worked in the non-profit sector at an organization in the South Bronx, NY dedicated to supporting underrepresented students return to college. He has also taught in the Sociology Departments at CUNY-Leman College, CUNY-Hunter College, and MSU Denver. He is committed to increasing access and visibility in higher education for students of color.
