
Olivia graduated summa cum laude from CU Boulder, receiving a BA in Linguistics with an emphasis in TESOL and a minor in Spanish. She also received a Bachelor's of Music (BM) in French Horn Performance. Always an enthusiastic researcher and explorer, she has been granted diverse opportunities to contribute to practical research initiatives in not only language studies, but also psychology, information systems, & music. Her most recent contributions include assisting Dr. Fatima Esseili of CU Denver's Dept. of English in her work on managing emotions in the English language learning classroom, as well as collaborating with Adult ESL teacher-trainer Andrea Echelberger & University of Arizona PhD candidate Asya Gorlova on developing a trauma-informed teaching approach for English classes of adult refugees. She strives to apply all of her research experiences to her teaching practice on a regular basis. In addition to teaching for the ESL Academy, she teaches for Jeffco Public Schools' Adult Family Literacy program, where she primarily works with adult refugees and other immigrants of mixed statuses. Outside of research and teaching, she still enjoys playing horn in local orchestras and other music groups around Colorado.
