What is the mini-grant program?

This program supports middle and high school student science fair participants, in the DMRSEF region. An individual student or a team of students may apply under the guidance and sponsorship of a teacher or adult sponsor.

  • Grants will be awarded for science fair projects to be implemented within the 2024/2025 school year.
  • Projects funded by a grant must compete in the 2025 Denver Metro Regional Science & Engineering Fair.

  • A student or team may only submit one grant application.
  • This program is multi-phase. In the first phase, students submit an application to be considered for a grant. In the second phase, selected applicants will pitch their project in a live, virtual format to panelists. Panelists will determine the final awardees. Up to 10 projects will be funded.

  • Projects are reviewed and evaluated on an individual basis.
  • As the goal of this program is to remove barriers to participation, priority is given to need-based applicants.

Who is eligible?

  • Students in grades 6-12 in the Denver Metro Region (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson and Summit counties).

  • Students who will compete in the 2025 Denver Metro Regional Science & Engineering Fair

  • Priority is given to students who demonstrate need and how this funding will allow them to complete a project/participate in the fair.

Application, Selection, and Administration:

  • Grants will be selected by a panel of Science Fair pros including members of Project Bridge and DMRSEF community members.

  • Grants will be administered through DMRSEF and awardees will receive funding in early December.
