Advocacy Committee Report on Meeting with Dean’s Office (9/7/2023) & Debrief on CLAS Faculty & Staff Forum (9/8/2023)

There was surprise that teri engelke was not in the room during Michelle’s talk about CLAS Staff council. Angela was disappointed that CLAS HR did not appear to be advocating for greater clarity and more complete information from central HR on promotions, job classification changes and additional one-time compensation. On behalf of the staff council, Angela will ask AnQuanette if CLAS HR can get more specific information from central HR on promotions and raises and provide that information to staff. Angela mentioned that professional development funds might be well-suited to offset the cost of the attendance of teams at a conference:

Activities

A social event will be planned for the fall. There was discussion of playing Bingo among staff where an app is used to collect fun facts about staff (Maria is contact). It was not who decided who would organize the event. Maria requested we announce anniversaries in the Dean’s Notes. Michelle will contact Carri Boothe for staff lists and Maria volunteered to work on this project.
