We offer different types of scholarships for our students:
Modern Languages Departmental Scholarship
Modern Languages General Scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Department of Modern Languages courses, ranging from $500.00 - $1,000.00
- Applications will open in October and close on November 30 for Spring semester awards.
- Applications will open in March and close on April 30 for Fall semester awards.

Modern Languages Wagner Memorial Fund Scholarship

Students must be enrolled in at least one class in the CU Denver Department of Modern Languages in the semester of the award and currently taking a class in the CU Denver Department of Modern Languages when you apply for the award. You will also have to write a short essay in the application. Using AI in the application will result in immediate disqualification.

Modern Languages Andrea Wagner McEwen Scholarship

This scholarship is financial need-based: applicants must have filled out a FAFSA and currently be receiving financial aid to be eligible for this scholarship. Students must be enrolled in at least one class in the CU Denver Department of Modern Languages in the semester of the award and currently taking a class in the CU Denver Department of Modern Languages when you apply for the award. You will also have to write a short essay in the application. Using AI in the application will result in immediate disqualification.

Study Abroad Scholarship:

Alvin O. Bloedorn Endowed Scholarship for Language Learning Abroad (Summer 2027) (Now closed, check again in early Spring 2027)
- This scholarship provides financial support to students who wish to travel to and engage in an immersive language and cultural learning experience in a region of the globe where the target language and culture of study are predominant. Students must have taken at least two classes in the CU Denver Department of Modern Languages in order to apply. You will have to write a short essay in the application. Using AI in the application will result in immediate disqualification.

Spanish TA Tuition Remission:
Pays for 3 credit hours of in-state tuition per semester that a grad student is a TA with us, for up to 4 semesters. Tuition remission is only applicable for those students teaching their own class.
