My name is Kyusik Hyun, but I introduce myself as "Kay" to make my name easier to pronounce for others. I am an international student from the Republic of Korea, majoring in psychology and recording arts with a minor in physics. I studied music production and audio engineering for 7 years (starting from 2018) in diverse environments, including as my major in college, as a soldier in a South Korean military band, and as a freelancer as well. After moving to CU Denver, I started double majoring in psychology and minoring in physics to extend my view of interpreting music. I joined the Laboratory of Integrative Vision (LIV) during the 2024 summer semester to expand my knowledge about cognitive science, since this relates to my primary research interest in music cognition. Topics studied in the lab, such as visual attention and spatial perception, are also prominent in the music cognition field, and hence I am eager to learn from lab experiences. I am diligently working towards becoming a professor in the interdisciplinary field of music cognition, with a primary focus on cognitive neuroscience, approaching my dream via LIV!
