Job Description: The Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics Theory group seeks an undergraduate student to support a project on calculating electron-impact excitation and ionization cross sections for singly ionized neon. These cross-sections will be used to model astrophysical plasmas. The project will require running sophisticated research-grade codes on US-based supercomputers, and interpreting scattering cross-sections using physics knowledge. This position is part-time, with a minimum of 5 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours per week.

Pay Range: $20.00

Minimum Requirements:
Successful completion of General Physics I and II with a grade of C- or higher.
Strong written communication skills
Familiarity with LINUX operating systems
Preferred Requirements
Experience with High Performance Computing
Broad interest in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics
Experience with the B-Spline atomic R-Matrix code
