Job Title: Precision measurement undergraduate research assistant
Job Location: North Classroom 3009
Job Description: Conduct research on superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) to determine their effective area. Implement experimental apparatus to apply controlled 2-axis magnetic fields to bare SQUID die at cryogenic temperatures. Use said apparatus to measure characteristics of multiple SQUIDs and analyze the data. Produce written report on the results. Verify general SQUID functionality. Attend group meetings and perform other relevant tasks (e.g. specifying and ordering components) as assigned.
Job Class: Student Assistant Level # III
Pay Range: $18.81
Start Date: May 19 or upon completion of new hire forms/background check/and I-9
End Date: August 2, 2025

Minimum Requirements:
3.0 minimum cumulative GPA
Availability for weekly group meetings, presently 11:00 AM - noon every Tuesday (subject to change)
Minimum 15 hr/week availability
Preferred Requirements
Cumulative GPA greater than 3.5
Experience with analog electronics and/or high-performance sensors
Experience with basic test and measurement instrumentation (function generator, oscilloscope)
Experience with FFT spectrum analyzer
Experience with operation of superconducting devices
Up to 30 hr/week availability
