About Jess

Jess earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. There, she worked as a research assistant and lab manager on projects related to romantic relationships, intercultural competence, and health psychology. She then went on to work as a program and development coordinator at a nonprofit brain injury support center. Next, Jess received her Master of Counseling degree from Arizona State University, where she worked on research projects related to stress and coping within the context of romantic relationships. For her thesis, she examined supportive factors and barriers related to the experiences of WoC in STEM doctoral programs. Jess’ research interests include close relationships, dyadic coping, physical and mental health outcomes, and traumatic brain injury. For her thesis in the CHP program, Jess plans to examine dyadic coping during the transition to parenthood. In her free time, Jess enjoys being active and spending time with friends and family.
