This How-To will guide users through inviting users to join an active Zoom meeting. It will also guide users through joining an active Zoom meeting.

Tools/Utilities Needed

  • Active Internet Connection

  • University account

  • Microphone (If you are planning to speak during the meeting)

  • Camera (Optional)

Inviting Instructions

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to: https://ucdenver.zoom.us

  2. Click “Sign In” in the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. Login with your University username and password.

  4. At the top-right corner of the screen, mouse-over “Host A Meeting,” then select “With Video Off” (if you choose to not use a webcam) or “With Video On” (if you choose to use a webcam.

    NOTE: You do NOT need to have “With Video On” in order to share your screen with viewers

  5. From here, Zoom will prompt you to download and run a file to launch the application. This can vary in each web browser, so follow the instructions on the webpage to do this successfully.

  6. Once the application is running, a popup should appear asking how you would like to join the audio conference. Select “Join Audio by Computer”.

  7. If you selected “With Video Off”, you will be greeted by the main page, shown below. This page will show an Invitation URL, select the “Copy URL” link it will copy the address to your clipboard automatically.

  8. If you selected “With Video On”, your camera will show up on the screen and to get the invitation URL, you will need to click on “Invite” on the bottom options bar. It will open a screen giving you a few different options for how you would like to invite others, including simply copying the invite URL.

Joining Instructions

  1. Copy the Zoom invitation link that has been given to you.

  2. Go to your preferred browser and paste the link into the address bar. From here, Zoom will prompt you to download and run a file to launch the application. This can vary in each web browser, so follow the instructions on the webpage to do this successfully.

  3. The Zoom application will open and show a popup asking how you would like to join the audio conference. Select “Join Audio by Computer”.

  4. From here, you should be able to see and/or hear the Zoom meeting. If you are planning to speak during this meeting, look in the bottom left corner and make sure that your mic is working. The microphone shown below should turn green when you speak into your microphone.
