DWP Hosts Successful Young Writer's Camp

Published: Sept. 29, 2015

Students participating in the Young Writer's CampNearly 200 young writers spent a week of their summer on the Auraria campus at the Young Writer's Camp, hosted by the University of Colorado Denver Writing Project (DWP). These 4th-12th grade writers worked on their own fiction and non-fiction pieces, and shared them with family and friends at an end-of-the-week celebration. To keep them inspired, local writing favorites like slam poet Jovan Mays, 5280 food editor Amanda M. Faison and author Denise Vega hosted writing workshops throughout the week. The DWP thanks the dedicated Denver-area teachers who are making sure that young writers have an ongoing reason to write, share & grow over the summer months, and looks forward to more great writting next summer!
