CLAS Research Innovation Seed Programs (CRISP) 2021 - 2022

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce the call for proposals for the Spring CLAS Research Innovation Seed Program (CRISP). CRISP funds are designated specifically to promote innovative research and creative activities and encourage the submission of applications for externally funded research. CRISP funds are intended to provide seed money to fund studies used in grant proposals and to facilitate research and creative activities that could not be completed successfully with currently available resources.
Acknowledging the diversity that is an essential feature of CLAS, CRISP has two tracks, one aimed at faculty in areas which, although sometimes funded by prestigious and important grants, are not generally funded by large dollar awards (Track A) and the other targeted at faculty with research projects with greater potential for obtaining large external grants (Track B). Important and innovative research and creative activities often require initial funding to get a project off the ground. Projects submitted under Track A are those that require resources to successfully conduct the research and can be expected to make significant progress toward completion within the one-year grant period. If no suitable funding opportunities are identified, no grant submission is required. For projects submitted under Track B, successful applicants must submit a grant proposal with an expected request of $100,000 (total). The intent of these tracks are to support the research and creative work performed by faculty in all units within CLAS and to provide seed money for projects that require resources to initiate. The college expects to make up to 4 awards in each Track: Awards up to $5,000 are possible for Track A and awards of up to $10,000 for Track B. CRISP applications must be received in the Dean’s Office or by email to Laura.Argys@ucdenver.edu by 5:00 p.m. on March 11, 2022.
