Europe and the Islamic World

Eiffel tower in ParisThis travel study course is designed for students interested in a safe and rich cultural and academic experience. In France and Morocco, participants will meet with distinguished scholars and local guides and experts in the fields of politics, history and culture, and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of these Mediterranean regions. Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of North African immigration to France and its current socio-cultural implications. Participation in this course will broaden students’ cultural sensitivity and encourage them to reflect on their role as citizens of our deeply interconnected global community. Students will start their journey in Paris, where they will have ample free time to delve into the city, as well as enjoy an array of cultural experiences. From there, the class will take a highspeed train to the beautiful southern French city of Aix-en-Provence, where they will have the unparalleled experience of living with a French host family for two days. Next, the group will travel to Morocco, where they will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in countless cultural jewels in the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, and Marrakesh
