"LASSO 2023: Linguistics as a Global Phenomenon: Places and Spaces"

The 52nd Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest will be held in Denver, CO on October 5-7, 2023.

LASSO, the Linguistic Association of the Southwest, invites abstract submissions for papers and group panels for its 52nd Annual Meeting to be held at the University of Denver, Colorado, on October 5-7, 2023. We welcome papers in all areas of linguistics including, but not limited to applied linguistics, linguistic variation, languages in contact, language policy and planning, language attitudes and ideologies, syntax, phonetics, and phonology, etc.

This year we especially encourage papers addressing any of the following topics: global perspectives on language, linguistic landscapes, language and identity, indigenous languages, community languages, language and migration, language and social media, and language and technology.

Submissions by pre-tenured faculty and graduate students are especially welcome.

The LASSO Annual Meeting varies by location, and is distributed across the LASSO area, from Louisiana to the Pacific Coast.
The meeting includes research presentations, workshops, and opportunities for members to connect and share their knowledge.
