The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time instructor faculty position beginning August 2020. The successful candidate should be committed to teaching excellence and will have the opportunity to work with students in a variety of settings, including teaching of both upper and lower division courses and mentoring graduate teaching assistants in the department.
The University of Colorado Denver serves more than 19,000 undergraduate, graduate and health profession students in Denver, Aurora and online. The University is located on two main campuses: the downtown Denver campus, in the heart of Denver’s business, cultural and recreational district; and the Anschutz Medical Campus, located in nearby Aurora, Colorado. The downtown Denver campus, which houses the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, is home to a diverse community of 15,000 students and over 48% of undergraduates are students of color. We therefore seek candidates who demonstrate effectiveness in teaching, mentoring, and inspiring diverse students of all ethnicities, nationalities and genders, including first generation college undergraduates. This position will be responsible for teaching the equivalent of 27 total credit hours each academic year and providing appropriate service to the department and college. Summer teaching may be available. Any summer work entails a separate work contract. The initial appointment is for one academic year and subsequent renewals of up to three years at a time are possible (subject to satisfactory review).
