"Professor Pam Laird has devoted her long career at CU Denver to making our university a better place. Her concept of being a good university citizen has resonated through every initiative she has undertaken. She stepped in to help create UCDALI when non-tenure track faculty did not have a voice. She has taken on working on the less glamorous tasks of helping shape policy and budgets as well as chairing our history department. Dr. Laird has embraced mentoring faculty and students alike and encouraged others to take on similar roles. Now we have created the new Pam Laird Scholarship to encourage students to be good community members during their years at CU Denver. I have embraced her mission by donating to the Laird Scholarship. I hope you, dear readers, will do so as well."

Pamela Walker Laird is Professor Emerita of History at the University of Colorado Denver and Director of Digital Initiatives for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Pam Laird Community Builder Scholarship Fund will recognize students' efforts as emerging citizens of their University who invest their time, energy and creativity to build community within CU Denver. Whether they come together to help themselves or others – or both – they enrich their own lives, the lives of others, and the life of the University as a whole. They also build skills and connections – human and social capital – that can help them in their personal and professional lives outside CU Denver.
