Ken has been an Academic Advisor with the CLAS Undergraduate Advising team since the summer of 2019. He is an alumnus of CU Denver where earned his B.A. in Sociology and his M.A. in Counseling. He also has previous experience working at CU Denver with the Learning Resources Center as a Project Specialist and with the TRiO Student Support Services program as a Graduate Assistant. He also spent time as an Academic Advisor at Front Range Community College in Westminster, CO.

Ken’s passion for higher education sparked while he was in college himself. Being a low-income, first generation college student and a second generation immigrant came with unique challenges that impeded his ability to successfully navigate his way through college. These challenges helped drive his desire to pursue a career to create a safe and welcoming space for students from all backgrounds. One of his main goals as an Academic Advisor is to help students, both traditional and non-traditional, overcome internal and external barriers to ensure that they have all of the knowledge and resources they need to be successful.

During his free time, Ken enjoys being active by participating in sporting activities and exploring the great outdoors of Colorado. He also spends a large amount of time just hanging out with his large family and close friends.
