Mike Cummings, professor of political science, was interviewed on the dysfunction and discord in Washington in the days before the fiscal cliff crises came to a head. He sees gerrymandered districts favoring extremists within both parties in the current political arena, which he says has lead to compromise being defined as a “bad word.”
