National History Day in Colorado has much to celebrate

National History Day in Colorado, housed in the History Department, recently received a $50,000 grant from the Daniels Fund. In addition, National History Day in Colorado is also celebrating a $10,000 grant, recently received from the Anschutz Family Foundation. These much needed funds will support teacher training and direct classroom support.

In September, National History Day in Colorado --which serves 15,000 Colorado middle and high school students--partnered with the History Colorado Center and Teaching with Primary Sources to present a two-day workshop for 66 teachers from across the state.  Teachers learned valuable skills to help incorporate History Day into their classroom and to improve student learning. These teachers, along with more than 100 History Day volunteers, board members, students and parents celebrated together at an evening reception at the History Colorado Center.  The reception was hosted by Guaranty Bank and Trust.
