Denver Writing Project hosts the Young Writer's Camp
For one week each summer, the Denver Writing Project hosts the Young Writer's Camp on the Auraria Campus. This camp is geared toward Colorado students, going into grades 5-12, who love writing and would like an opportunity to hone the craft, workshop with professional writers, and meet other young writers like themselves. The following writers are featured this summer:
- Author and Broadcaster Dom Testa, Tuesday, June 11th, http://www.domtesta.com/
- Journalist Joan Gandy, Wednesday, June 12, is a former reporter, copy editor, page designer and editor in chief for daily newspapers including The Opelika-Auburn News, The Alexander City Outlook, The Douglas County News Press and The Denver Post. She has covered town government, lifestyles, police/crime, and education. Joan has a master's in journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
- Slam Poet Jovan Mays, Thursday, June 13t, http://www.jovanmays.com/
The camp is open to all young writers, not just those who have family affiliated with our campus. Feel free to pass this information along to any budding authors you know! This year's camp is June 10-14. The cost is $185 for the week, with some financial aid available.
