Best Wishes to Departing Dean Howard
CLAS invties everyone to celebrate the success of Dean Daniel J. Howard as he moves on to assume the position of Provost at New Mexico State University (NMSU) at a Farewell Celebration this afternoon (see more information below).
Excerpted from a letter by Roderick Nairn, PhD, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs:
"Dean Howard’s new position represents a homecoming of sorts. Prior to coming to Colorado in 2008, he spent 20 years at NMSU, including heading the biology department and as the interim associate dean for research in NMSU’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Here at CU Denver, Dean Howard has led the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) to grow in both size and stature. In his five years at the helm, he helped initiate new CLAS programs, including new degrees in several fields and new programs such as the BA/BS to MD program. His leadership in planning for the new academic building on the Auraria Campus, which will consolidate numerous dispersed CLAS programs into one place, leaves CLAS in good stead for the future"
