Scientific Truth -- An Endless Inquiry: Geneticist Linda Dixon will review the principles governing the scientific method, citing examples from genetics that have forced us to rethink old beliefs in the face of compelling new evidence.  Eventually a new discovery brings about a major paradigm shift in our established "truths." Does this mean there is no such thing as a settled body of scientific truth?  Why is it so difficult for us to accommodate new ways of thinking about ourselves and our world?
