Faculty & Staff Convocation, 11:00-11:45 a.m., King Center Recital Hall
New Student Convocation, noon-1:00pm, King Center Concert Hall
BBQ, 1:00-2:00pm, Lawrence Street Mall
The New Student Convocation, which begins at noon, marks the official beginning of our students’ academic careers at the University of Colorado Denver. It is a symbolic initiation into the world of higher education and a formal introduction to the traditions, standards and principles of our prestigious institution. The complement of this ceremony is commencement, marking the end of our students’ undergraduate time with us. To convey the significance of this moment, for the first time, all faculty are asked to wear academic regalia to this ceremony. University staff are encouraged to attend as well and wear CU Denver attire to show their support for our new class.
The Faculty & Staff Convocation will offer light refreshments and a brief welcome to the new academic year by Chancellor Elliman. If faculty request regalia, this is where they will get it. The event, which begins at 11 a.m., will be followed immediately by the New Student Convocation. Attendees will be escorted to the Concert Hall at 11:45 a.m. in time to greet the new students.
Following the New Student Convocation, all students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a barbecue lunch on campus on the Lawrence Street Mall.
