Dr. Jansma came to the University of Colorado Denver in 2014 after many years in both academic and administrative positions the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, the University of Arkansas, New Mexico State University, and the University of Texas at Arlington. Her background is in geosciences, with a research focus on using the Global Positioning System to examine deformation of Earth's surface with emphasis on active tectonics of the Caribbean region. She received her BS from Stanford University and MS and PhD from Northwestern University.
As the executive assistant, Karen is responsible for direct administrative support for the Dean and general support for the Associate Deans. She manages the CLAS Dean’s office, including overseeing meeting preparations, coordinating events, handling inventory and fiscal reconciliations for the main office and supervising the front desk student team. Karen serves as the primary liaison for the Dean’s front office operations.
